Customs incomes up 380%: director

TEHRAN, Mar. 4 (MNA) — Incomes from the customs were about 800 million rials in the past 11 months of the current year (Iranian year ending March 20,2005), the figure indicates 380 percent growth compared to the same period in 2000, noted director of the I. R. of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Masud Karbasian.

 

He also stated that incomes from the IRICA in 2000 were about 5,805 million rials adding, there were 135 customs offices with 8,000 personnel in 2000 whereas currently, there exist 167 customs offices with 6,000 personnel in the country.

 

Referring to the increase in the number of the exports’ customs in the country he commented, “If the exports’ customs were not developed, we would have definitely lost Iraq and Afghanistan’s markets, the measure has resulted in an increase in the commercial transactions across the borders.”

 

He also referred to the production site assessment of the goods to be exported and coordinating the exports with the exporters’ demands as the new measures taken by the IRICA.
